Tilt or tap? How racing controls change the feel
Mobile racing lives or dies on controls, so we ran a little experiment. We took the same circuits and played them with tilt steering and with tap steering to see which one actually felt better.
Tilt feels immersive when it works, but it depends heavily on how you're sitting. On a wobbly bus, it's a nightmare. Tap controls are steadier but can feel floaty if the game doesn't tune them well.
The surprise was how much track design mattered. Tight, technical courses favored tap, while open high-speed loops felt better with tilt. There's no single winner, which is why we love when a game offers both.
If you're just starting out, pick tap first. It's more forgiving while you learn a track, and you can always switch once you know where the corners are.
